CREATED IN MEMORY OF EMILY
Community Advancing Light & Life (CALL) exists to honor the life of Emily Barber by helping prevent and reduce substance misuse. Our initiative focuses on taking actions in Charleston, Illinois, and the surrounding communities that complement and support the work of our local counseling and treatment agencies, emergency medical services, and law enforcement.
CALL focuses on building a unified, informed, and motivated community committed to increasing positive peer influence that encourages delaying the use of legal substances until the legal age or later and promoting complete abstinence from illicit drugs.
CALL is a non-profit organization under fiscal sponsorship of Southern Illinois Community Foundation.
WE HONOR EMILY'S LEGACY BY HELPING OTHERS CONTINUE TO PURSUE LIGHT & LIFE
CALL is shedding light on the specific impacts that harmful substances are having in Charleston, IL and beyond, while pointing members of our community to both prevention and treatment resources. We aim for more of our children and families to experience a life out of the shadows, shining with safety, belonging, purpose, joy, and hope.
CALL WILL PRIORITIZE ACTIONS THAT INTERRUPT THE FIVE MOST RECOGNIZED RISK FACTORS KNOWN TO INCREASE THE USE OF HARMFUL SUBSTANCES.

ADVANCING LIGHT means supporting our community members in sharing the guiding information and skill-building resources that have brought them and others to fulfillment in life.
ADVANCING LIFE, then, represents helping people be able to grow and make choices that are free from addiction cycles and the physical, emotional, and social problems created by substance mis-use.
